The feature of having a timer in the Dynamic Island, showing how much time you use the app for, is great, but I think it needs improvement:
Feature Request: Be able to choose if Timer shows time left or time I've spent
Right now it counts how much time you’ve spent on the app. I think it would be better if it showed remaining time for using the app (based on how much time user chose to spend on the app) - clearly indicating how much time you have left based on what you chose, instead of having to remember how much time you chose and then mentally calculating “time left” = “time I chose” - “time I’ve spent“. This is small and subtle difference, but I think it might be a bit more convenient. Or maybe add an option for the user to choose what to show - time remaining or time spent.
Bug: Dynamic Island Feature <> Intentional App Switching – Timer disappears after switching
This Dynamic Island feature doesn’t work well with Intentional App Switching. Let’s say I chose to spend 10 mins on YouTube, went there - timer started in the Dynamic Island. I then switched to another app briefly (app closing was logged) and timer disappeared. I opened the YouTube again (during the Intentional App Switching period), but the timer doesn’t re-appear, continue or start over. I think, the most expected behavior would be for timer to continue running for the time period that was chosen to spend in the app (if you consider the 1 suggestion, then it would be expected to have this timer counting down 10 minutes since I chose to spend this much time on YouTube) and stopping only when this chosen time period or if the app was closed for the time longer, than Intentional App Switching period.
