Intervention for Netflix

I have a habit of watching some Netflix on my monitor, but when i click outside the video the Intervention shows up, even when i do something as simple as opening another tab or checking my mail in thunderbird, causing the whole video to stall. I’m wondering if this is intended behaviour, because it’s really frustrating
